I love the intense aroma of hazelnut oil, which has a fine texture and a beautiful light brown colour. It is a highly unsaturated vegetable oil which comes, of course, from pressing the nuts of a hazel tree.
It is more often used as a delicious and nutritious salad dressing, but hazelnut oil is also a super food for your skin: It is rich in monounsaturated fats (oleic acid), essential fatty acids (ω-6), minerals, phytosterols, vitamin E, and antioxidants. It is easily absorbed, penetrating deeply into your skin, and has superb natural toning qualities.
Highly moisturising, Hazelnut Oil is perfect for body massage: Often used as carrier oil in in aromatherapy, a hazelnut oil massage is a wonderful, soothing experience, relieving you of the physical and mental stress of daily life. Apart from loosening tired nerves, a regular massage with this oil helps with cell regeneration and strengthens your capillaries.
Although hazelnut oil is suitable for all skin types, it is particularly good for sensitive, oily skin: Its astringency tightens the skin’s pores and thereby limits secretions, thus helping to maintain clean and clear skin.
Hazelnut oil is a natural anti-oxidant, provides some protection from the sun, and helps in solving many of the problems associated with ageing: What better ingredient to apply to your skin to prepare and tone your body for a beautiful, sunny summer!
I have included hazelnut oil in my Organic Firm & Tone Oil and my Organic Foot & Leg Balm for all of the above reasons. The combination, for me, is the perfect way to unwind after a busy day in the great outdoors.
