The appearance of wrinkles is linked on one hand to the facial mimic, connected to emotions and psychological factors, and on the other hand to the natural ageing process influenced by many life style factors (food, sun exposure, smog, pollution, lack of sleep etc.) .This ageing process can be “controlled” or “slowed down” by having a correct life style and correct diet, mostly organic and vegetarian, rich in vitamins, antioxidants and vital nutritional factors. Moreover the collagen tissue that supports the skin, keeping it young and supple must be constantly moisturised by daily drinking enough pure water. The daily quantity may vary with the person and my advice is to drink enough water to make the urine clear and transparent. Because it is difficult to find pure and vital water, I would recommend adding to it always a few drops of fresh lemon juice.
Amongst the most important minerals to support the collagen metabolism, keeping the skin in good health and to prevent “wrinkles”, are sulphur and silica. Rich in these minerals are foods like cabbage and cauliflower, garlic and onion, water cress, wild rocket and radicchio, asparagus, Brussels sprouts. One or more of them should be always on our table, eaten raw, in order to prevent wrinkles. I suggest a daily mixed salad dressed with olive oil and fresh lemon juice plus, sometimes, wheat germ or yeast flakes. To those vegetables you should add food rich in vitamins, antioxidants and beta-carotene like carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, beetroots, spinach, berries (blueberry, blackcurrant, strawberry, raspberry), always eaten raw. And then foods rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids ω-3 and ω-6 like organic vegetable cold pressed oils (flaxseed oil, olive oil, sesame oil, sunflower oil, wheat germ oil) and nuts in moderation. What benefits our inner body benefits our external body as well and to keep away wrinkles you should have a cosmetic routine based on organic moisturising oils rich in antioxidants, Vitamin E, essential fatty acids, chlorophyll and enzymes.
The oils, particularly olive oil, jojoba oil, rose hip oil, all rich in Vitamin E and EFA, protect, soften and moisturise the skin reducing the evaporation of the “internal water “, and have an antioxidant and protective action against UV rays. There are also important herb extracts like calendula and plantain known for their healing properties, horsetail rich in silica, gotu kola that encourages production of collagen, lemon abundant in Vitamin C and known for its astringent properties, nettle rich in many minerals that can be used in anti wrinkle products.
Small quantities of alcohol, no smoking, sun in moderation and far from midday and a lot of joy and enthusiasm.
